Preliminary Build Up

I'm thinking about trading my 7.3 in for 6.0. I found a great deal on a truck. I was wondering what you guys did and what it cost to make the motor safe to put some extra power under the hood. I know you have to install some head studs and other things so that the motor doesn't blow but what else? I want to make the motor ready to handle whatever power upgrades I may make (undecided as of yet). Any help will be appreciated.
