chaddel needs some help!
Hey guys i got a PM from A new guy...chaddel, everybody say hi...and he asked me about these issues. however since im not a 6.0L guy i wanted to present it to some 6.0L guys. Lets here what you guys think:
I am new to the diesel world. I just bought an 06 f-250 crew cab long box 4x4. the reason i went with diesel is cause i drive alot and wanted better mileage and i put on alot of miles. however i am not getting that good of mileage i only get about 12 mpg. most of that is highway miles haulling nothing. alot of people i talk to say i should get about 15and when broke in 20. what do you know about this i have 15000 miles on it now. also what do you know about the bully dog? i am thinking about putting on a bully dog but don't know which one and also thinking of 5" exaust? could you or anyone else help this newbie out with any ideas or suggestions? |

Hi chaddel. Who ever told you 20 mpg out of a 6.0l was lying to you. So go punch the salesman in the face. 15 should be about average. Compare that to a gasser and your only getting 10 with the 5.4 and no power. A tuner would help your fuel milage if you can drive it normally and not Dukes of Hazzard style. I wouldnt go with BullyDog. Yes we sell them, but for the 6.0l their are better options. 5" exhaust is a waste of money, 4 is all you need, and a good OEM replacement filter like AFE.
There are many options for your truck. If you have a need to talk to someone give me a call 724-272-1539 or 724-462-3669 or call one of the other helpful vendors from this site. You have landed at the right place. Welcome aboard! |

My dad has an 06 250 crew with short box and he doesnt get much better then that. He is lucky when he gets 15 mpg and he has to be close to 15 thousand himself. His 02 350 had better mpg. I guess make sure you get your tank full of diesel and do the hand calculation and see if its the same. Im assuming your going by your overhead reading. On the exhaust I like my 4 inch i guess the 5 inch sounds better everything I have read is the 5 inch is overkill until you reach 500 hp

Most everyone
I know that runs a 6.0 is getting atleast 18 on the highway. Mix it up a bit and your looking around 13-15.

I'm sure someone is getting 20, but you wont bump into him accidentally at the grocerie store. Mine only gets about 13....I'm still confused.

What kinds of speeds are you driving it at?? 60-65 versus 70-80 can make a HUGE difference....also what rear end gear ratio it has can make a huge difference...there are too many factors to just simply say "this guy gets this and i get that"....

Heavy Long Wheelbase Crew Cab 350 Dually gets....
My 06 CCab DRW 4x4 F-350 LWB King Ranch, this is about as big and as long and heavy as you can get in an F-350.... Auto...... Gets 16 mpg on the highway, stock exhaust, Edge Juice Platinum running Level 1 economy... Gutted Cat...
This is about as good as it gets with a big Dually, running heavy with gear, extra tanks, extra batteries, solar, 410 gears, big winch, big 6mm plate reinforced Bullbar, loaded, fridge and all... 16 mpg is about all that one can coax out of it staying under 2000 RPM.. That staying at 2000 RPM and refraining from putting Rice Grinders in their place when they pass you.... Is what makes the difference... But how boring... Ha! :burnout :burnout  |
