2004 PS engine to an early 03 model F250

Hi
I was wondering if I can get some help. My 03 6.0 took a dump I was told it was not repairable due metal all over the block. So I was thinking about putting in an 04 PS engine. What do i need for this modification a engine wiring harness? A PCM? Like to know what im getting my self into. Any help would gladly be appreciated.

Thanks
Vic

i would think you could swap it out fairly easy. worst case have your heads machined and run the short block then sell all the left over parts. remember to stud and do the egr delete while it is out

i have read more than once that 03-04 are the same 04.5+ are the same
the electrical connections are suppost to be different and injectors etc. i have no hands on swapping them so i cant confirm that. the cut off for 04-04.5 is december 03 i think for the build date or white or black top injectors

Oh ok I will look into that. Hopefully it will not be too complicated.
Thanks.

Swap info

You can use the entire 04 engine, if it has the sensor moved to the passenger valve cover instead of under the turbo, you can either use the harness from the 04, or extend the wires. Injectors dont matter. 03 used white top injectors, newer ones used black tops, either set will work, as long as you use all 8 the same. Black top injectors seem to be better, as the metal parts inside recieved a DLC coating to fight stiction. I just put a 06 engine in a 03. Complete swap with studs and EGR delete. It all worked.

ECU?????

You can change the ecu if you want, but you dont have to. Any of the ecu's will work, but you would probably need a reflash from the dealer.

I am doing a 04.5 in my early 03 and the harness can be extenede to make work or you can find an 04.5 harness and plug her in. Easy as pie swap.........don't worry you should be fine....
