Looking at a 6.0 got a few ????
well the time has come to look at a newer truck. I have ran 3 different 7.3's since 2000. but they dont make them anymore
. I also own a 01 24v ctd 5spd, like the ctd just not the vp44 or the truck around it. dream truck would be a 05+ CC F350 KR with a 24v CR 5.9, we all can dream from time to time. But i think i will stay with the ford. I know about the head bolts, trubo, injector issues. I was told that in 05+ they added 1 or 2 more head bolts, is that true? Did that help with the problem of head gaskets? Also i see that the egr delete is pretty common, is it a good idea? What are some of the other issues you have had? I am looking at a KR 250-350 CC SB or Lariat. It will be chipped, intake, exhaust, lifted and what not. What kind of mileage do those of you that are lifted 4"-6" with 35"-37" really get? I know that my 7.3 on 35"s get 13-14 in town a up to 15-17 on the highway. Does the 6.0 get the same or better? And if i was to do head studs what kind of cost am i looking at to have the cab pulled and studs done? Thanks |

The 6.0's always had 10 head bolts per side. Non were added in the 05+ engines. I see your interested with the 6.0 and want one but if your gonna mod it prepare to have deep pockets. For a base engine studding it and EGR deleting it off the bat doesn't seem to promsing but hey something thats gonna end up happening. Just to let you know studding and EGR deleting doesn't make the 6.0 bullet proof. As for mileage I see 11 mpg 50/50 freeway and city driving. 8 mpg towing 8K lbs. on the freeway.

When you reach the point of buying the 6.0L take the VIN to a Ford dealer service department. Ask for an OASIS report, this will show you all work that has been done at any Ford dealership on that truck. You can even post up here and some members have access as well to those OASIS reports.
