Hey marc what would that of cost me if they did not cover it?

well...roughly 6k for the head gasket job since they replaced heads....the injectors would not have added any labor...but at roughly 350 bucks a piece...there is another 1400.....dont know on the turbo leak...but figure at least 150 with diag.....and i would figure the egr valve to be about 200 or so..but im not sure...so i guess its a grand total of roughly just under 8 grand give or take.......by my estimations....

ive already stated plenty that i dont think a 6.0 should be chipped ever without head studs....with the studs..i would say run her hard...but without...i would have to say leave her as she is....especially since i saw she is listed now......Marc

That's great, glad she's running so well!

Alright Marc, I DE-TUNED my rig yesterday. I had been doing SO well up until Thursday but finally had enough of a mental midget in a new Durango. He was driving like an idiot and long story short I got pissed, fly by him and we ended up at a stop light together......and imagine my luck - a rice burner with an attitude in the third lane. It appears they must have been racing each other. Anyway, light turned green and I burned tires out of there - the Durango tried but realized pretty quick he was not in the same league as me or the ricer. The ricer......well when I let out he was about 5 lengths back. BUT I smelled something burning as I slowed for the next turn. It was literally like a piece of paper on fire smell. I got home a couple minutes later and I could still smell it a little. I popped the hood, everything looked fine, looked under her, everything looked fine. SO I freaked out a little and put the factory tune back on her. Everything seems normal, it's just not the way I want her though. I want that extra - I'm not talking the 100hp, just the "economy" 65hp that I always run. Is there absolutely NO way to have a SAFE tune on a 6.0??? I'd sell the Predator in a heart beat and buy anything if there was SOMETHING out there. IF NOT do I drive the crap out her, hoping to blow the head gaskets before my warranty ends so it can be fixed properly???? I want my rig to drive EXACTLY as she does on the 65 tune, nothing more, nothing less. It's crazy that I should have to worry about it even if I'm driving it "normal" under that tune.
Not trying to hijack your thread Redseal but I think you and I are looking for the same thing. Not an all out race car but the little extra a middle ground tune can give us without having it grenade on us.
With the 65 tune, I get MUCH better throttle response, MUCH less turbo lag, MUCH firmer shifts, LOWER EGT's and BETTER fuel economy than the factory tune. All of that seems like a GOOD thing to me.

honestly.....i think you can safely run a chip if you have an accurate boost gauge that has single pound graduations......if your motor is an early build motor....make shure she never goes over 24-26 psi......and if its a late build motor....keep her under 28-30........and if your headgaskets have already been done (just for the guys who have) than you should be able to handle the upper specs even if its an ealry build.......thats the only way i can say that i would a chip.......since the biggest problem is just the overboost potential........Marc

Thanks Marc as always you rock. I've got 22K on her and I put the Predator tune on around 500-800 miles, so I didn't have much "stock" time on her. I would toggle between 65hp & 100hp Predator tunes and the factory original tune tunes every coupe weeks, for about the first 15K. I kind of figured it would be actually GOOD for her to be "broken in" with different settings and driving modes. All in all with over 20K on her (with the Predator) and not a complaint one I'm just going to not worry about it, continue like I've been and keep within the specs you mentioned.
When I look at it with the Predator - lower EGT's are better for my turbo -firmer shifts are better for my tranny - better fuel economy are better for my wallet. And it is the perfect truck in my opinion. I wish Ford would look at it and go "Hey, check this out! Why don't we design our engines around THIS type of package?"
