Recycle 'Cat'?

I just installed a turbo-back 4" exhaust (sounds great) and was wondering if it was feasible to try to recycle/sell the cat. I hate to just throw it away if any money can be recouped. When you read and hear about so many catalytic converters being stolen, you have to wonder about what these thieves are doing with them.

You could take it to a local salvage/scrap yard and you would get some cash for it. The metal inside of them which I think is called palladium is what is valuable.

Ya definitly scrap it. As long as it is the stock original cat its worth around 80-100 here. If its an aftermarket one though itll be worth like $8 hahaha

Personally, I'd keep it, if for some reason you have to put it back on, you have it. If you have to buy another, they are expensive.$$$$$

You can get money for them, but I just kept mine in case the dealership needed it installed for warranty work.

They are not worth much at the moment because of the economy so I would hold on to it at least untill the price comes back up!

Thanks for all of the responses. I guess I'll hold on to it for a bit... but being full-time RV'rs, it sort of takes up more space than we like.
