Are you happy with your 6.0L

Hello everyone I am new to this site and am looking for information. I am in the market for a diesel truck probable an F350. We are looking to upgrade our 26 foot camping trailer. My question is for thoose that have the 6.0L diesel engine are you happy with it? How many miles do people have on them and have you had any major problems? I can only find mixed reviews. Any info would be helpfull. Just want to make sure it will be a good reliable truck. Thank you, Chris

I love mine, only have 26k on it, and only towed a few times, but it pulled well. No problems to date, except an oil leak I found the other day during the oil change

i had a 03 and now my 05 6.0 and love it. i had 2 7.3's before and they were cool too but i like the 6.0's way better. They have better tranny's and a lot more power. I also towed a toy hauler with my last rig and it did just fine. only issues you might have is head gaskets , egr cooler, and head studs if you run hot tunes on them. my two 6.0's never had issues and i ran hot tunes. I would suggest you drive a 7.3 and a 6.0 and see what one you like the best. if you get a 04 i believe, it has the better suspension up front with coils instead of leafs for a better ride.

Add me to the 1000% satisfied list also. We have a late '07 in an E450 rv and cannot say enough good things about the chasis. Fuel ecomony is excellent, 16 mpg is attainable driven carefully. I personally would like less hp and more mpg, its really got too much grunt for us; downright fast if you put the pedal down (to put things in perspective our previous rv was a van conversion on the Sprinter chasis-a massive 164 hp!). The engine has run flawlessly for about 26k, no oil consumption, no problems at all. High temp operation has been especially impressive, the temp gauge does not budge from normal even in 100* heat on mountain roads-but when the fan kicks in you know it...

Please visit:

betsy-tom (betsy-tom)'s photos- powered by SmugMug to view pictures of what rv no one should buy, and please help spread the word for us-we have had over fifteen thousand hits so far, thanks everyone who has helped get the word out.

I am going to be completely honest and say i absolutely hate my 6.0, i think the engine is a pile of garbage and whoever designed it should be shot. Ive done head gaskets, turbo, injectors, HPOP fitting, tranny, front hubs, need i go on. On the other hand i love the truck itself, other than the vaccum 4x4 hubs. I work my truck like a dog 365 days a year, -40 to +40c temps, towing no less than 10k lbs 3/4 of the time. GO BUY A CUMMINS!!! My dad had a 04 with 1,500,000 KM on it, yes you read right. Pulls 15k lbs. trailers from Indiana to all over Canada. 1 injection pump, and 2 trannys is all he ever put into it, other than brake, shocks, ujoints, etc
