turbo silencer ring

Has anyone had the privlige of taking there turbo out and machining the turbo ring out. I just bout a 04 6.0 and heard taking the ring out makes the truck sound like a jet engine. If this can be done tips on how to do it would be great.
thanks

Don't waste your time or money, you want the whistle pony up the bucks for a '03 turbo and pedastal.

That sounds like a good idea, but considering I just bought a truck and looking for things to do it cheaply. I can get the turbo out and I am a CNC operator so doing the milling wont be a problem, getting the turbo out sounds like a *****.

I did mine. You can notice a loud whistle on the intake side with the airbox off. With an aftermarket intake installed it is noticeable as well. Stock airbox silences it completely, and you can't tell a difference.

Keep in mind this makes the intake whistle louder, the '03 turbo has more whistle in the exhaust.

What can be done (if anything) to the stock airbox to increase the sound of the turbo?

Not to much. Just maybe intake, but ur intake is already good no need to change it. I'd just save up for the 03 turbo stuff.

The 03 is louder, yes it will work but you have to have an 03 pedistal as well
