04 vs 06
My truck has been deamed a write off with $29000 damage after it was stolen Now I have to decide on a new truck I'm leaning towards 06/07 powerstroke or duramax I am wondering if anyone can help me with differences from my 04 to 06/7. Things like MPG's, reliabilty, comfort, ride, etc. I knowthe design differences but I would like to hear some real hands on experiences Thanks guys and gals

It's still got a 6.0. Turning is way better.

I know it still has the 6.0 but I've heard rummors that most of the bugs were worked out by then and wanted to see if any of it is true

There's still some bugs. It's just down to a handful of trucks rather than a whole parking lot of trucks.

Somewhat true but it is still a toss-up. The ride is better on the 05 and up trucks and as you said the front end design and the interior.

05 and ups have some nice interior features. Like the built in trailer brake controller (optional), upfitter switches, and the drivers side glove box.

Bad front steering parts weak front differentials egr issues thin sheet metal low ground clearence small cab ifs..... Oh you mean difference in super dutys... the dash is the main interior difference. Out side the coils give a better ride and the tow rating is greater. 05 is bad for icp I think as well as wiring. I would look 07 then 06

Im goin to get bashed here but the duramax is one hell of a motor and the trucks ride really nice and are comfortable to drive... Its to bad they dont have the style/looks of the superduty wich is by far the best looking truck on the road
I wouldnt buy a chev/gmc because Im to brand loyal to fords thats why I have 3 of them... |

Nice big front grill, clear head lights, with turn signals all in one unit. IMHO a better looking front bumper. Interior is more refined, particularly the dash and gauge cluster. Trans Command Brake controller is awesome!!
Front suspension is completely different, coils ride really rice, wheels have a larger offset so the hub is closer to the center of the wheels centerline, so turning radius is greatly improved. Because of this you can put 35s on the stock wheels with only a 2" coil spacer. Larger brakes so they are a minimum of 17" wheels. And as far as 04 vs 05+ you are more likely to find one still under at least the powerstroke 100k warranty. |

My 07 has 30,000 miles on it and still running strong knock on wood not one trip to the dealer for any warranty work
