If you get an 03 or 04, get an oasis report to see if there was any issues with it. After that in 05, don't worry about them, they were good. SOME of the 03 models and early 04s had issues but not all. I have an 03 and it hasn't sputtered even once....and I run it on chicken fry grease.

Its something like this

I have seen a great number of good 03 and 04 6.0's. But if you want to up your odds on getting a real good one get a late 04 or newer. You can tell them by the ICP sensor in the pass side valve cover by the GPCM.

What are the major problems where they having with the 6.0 w/the 03 and 04 models..I have a 05 and I LOVE IT..not a single problem wronge so far..knock on wood. More likely then not he wont be able to afford a newer one so hes gonna have to buy a 03 or 04. He doesnt wanna buy one with over a 100,000 miles on it. what do you guys think about how many miles should we stop at??

He might want to think about a late 7.3 those were very strong motors, and you can mod them and have fun with them and not have to worry as much as with the 6ers.

I'm pretty sure mine is a late 04. I started having one or two small issues, but they were addressed by factory recalls. Nothing major, I think that fuel-injection wiring harness was the big one, and it was responsible for some goofy crap my RPMs were doing. Other than that, I've had absolutely no issues with the truck at all.
