I was wondering the major diference in the turbo back and cat back exhaust systems for my 03. Also, is there that much difference in the 4" and 5". I am asking b/c I rarely have extra money and I see that I can get the 4 in cat back system at a real good price on ebay (Hell, I may even be able to afford that system
. I would just like some opinions on the systems. If this post is in the wrong place, feel free to move it. Thanks Guys |

you really don't need anything bigger than a 4" but it will help with a 5" if you are pushing some real hp...... the full turbo back is the best way to go especially if you delete the cap (unless you have emission checks) plus the bigger down pipe will help air flow.... if funds are tight get a cat back system and do a cat delete..... good luck man

If you aren't planning on dumping the kitty it might be worth it for just a cat back.
Have you checked with Gus at FarmBoys Diesel? His budget kit is really good and the price is hard to beat. |

the differences are in the name, turbo back is new pipeing from the turbo all the way out with optional muffler and cat. cat back is a new muffler and tail pipe. 4" will be fine, you dont need 5" until you are making huge hp numbers

This is the kit that I run, turbo back 4" with the kitty and the muff MIA. |

here's the difference between a stock 6.0 downpipe and a 4". A catback leaves your stock downpipe back to and including the Cat.

So...I should run much better and sound much better with the 4in straight w/no muff and kitty. How much difference is the sound w/the muff/kitty removed? does the muff or kitty affect the performance either way?

Well, with no muff and no kitty the 03 turbo really whistles. At high idle mine sounds like a jet engine warming up. I have strangers come up to me in parking lots and ask me what's under my hood lol. How much it helped performance I can't really say but it is definitely worth it for the sound alone.
