2003 6.0, stock, with cracked injector nozzle??

A friend of mine who is a Ford tech asked me to post about this. He was working this truck and found the number 7 injector had a cracked nozzle from the tip all the way up to the sealing ring. This truck has been stock all it's life and is in mint shape and I now the owner and he does not abuse his stuff. Is this a common problem? He is going to post on their ford tech site, but would like to know the public input, thanks.
