SCT software trouble

tried to download the updater software for my x3 and went to install it and got an error message saying "error 1721 problem with windows installer package program required to install could not be run" and then some crazy number after it. Can anyone help? The computer is windows vista

R U running 64 bit Vista? If so it won't work.

ran Dxdiag and it says processor is 64x2 mobile technology? Is the bit the processor?
Also says 32 bit unicode on the bottom of window? I'm lost

Start button, then my computer, then system info. It should tell you. Look for 64b or 64 or 64bit cant remember for sure. If you don't see it, go back to SCT and download the software for the SF3. Depending on when you bought it, they changed the software on the tuner. I think I had to use the firmware for teh SF3.

My puter at work is xp so I'm doing it all by memory...(I'm at work)

The first thing at the top that comes up in the system window should show the version you are using. Vista blah blah maybe professional blah blah service pack 2 or something like that.

it's a 32 bit processor. I can't even get the actual SCT updater program to fully install. Haven't even gotten to downloadingn the firmware yet? Don't know why the software won't install
