Best Oil?
I haven't decided to go to synthetic yet, but have been hearing a lot of people are going to Shell Rotella T or Chevron Delo. Some have said that their trucks run smoother w/ the Chevron Delo than the Rotella. I'm just curious which one is better/ more preferable of the 6.0 guys.
Thanks. -BG06. |

if you dont want to go with a synthetic i would suggest running Motorcraft 10w-30 CJ-4 rated diesel engine oil vs. a 15w-40 oil (many ford diesel techs believe in this practice), if you dont want to use 10w-30 for personal reasons i would suggest Valvoline premium blue 15w-40, Delo would be ok as well, i personally would not suggest rotella to anyone, im a diesel tech myself and every engine i have had apart using rotella is really really gummy, and has alot of sludge buildup i would hate to see the inside of a 6.0L that uses the oil for the injectors, but this is my personal opinon and based on what I have seen. this is not for arguement sake. i hope this helps you out in your decision. good luck.

if you do a search on this topic, tons of threads will come up....
If you want to use synthetics, I always recommend to diesel customers: Amsoil 15w40 AME diesel synthetic: summer months, towing, can be used year round unless you live in EXTREME cold north, then use the Amsoil 5w30 HDD Amsoil 10w30 ACD diesel synthetic: can use year round, slightly better fuel economy than the AME Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5w40, pricey, but a very good oil, its a group III If your staying the dino route: Motorcraft 10w30 Chevron Delo 15w40 Mobil 1 Delvac 15w40 I'm not a big fan of the Shell Rotella in the 6.0s.... |
