Question A/M Towing Torque Converter

I think I may have blown out the clutch plates in my torque converter yesterday while downshifting on a steep hill. I am looking for an aftermarket torque converter and was wondering who I should look for that builds one specifically for towing. Thanks.

I highly doubt that you broke the stator on the torque convertor down shifitng. Ats and suncoast make good heavy duty tranny up grades. Suncoast has the best reputation in my opinion

It wasn't just a regular downshift. I was towing a 7k pound trailer up a summit when the tranny locked in OD (probably due to a/m programming) and after I lost enough speed, I forced the downshift, but I didn't realize how heavy I was into the throttle and it seemed to jump from OD down to 3rd and the rpm's shot up to about 4k. But you're right, it might not be that.

All I know is there is a whining/grinding while the truck is running coming from the tranny whether the truck is in gear or park.
