A few 6.0 questions

My dad is going to get the new truck Friday morning in Arlington TX. All I know is 7.3 stuff, and hardly any 6.0 stuff. What he is wanting to know is what and or who has the best custom tunes for fuel economy, and if a tuner goes on can the stock exhaust stay on?

you want to go with the sct and either innovative or cales tunes both are great ... i think if you are just running an economy tune you might be alright with the stock exhaust as long as you have some way to monitor your egts.

Stock exhaust will be fine with gauges to monitor your temps. Go with innovative for tuning. Cale is good too I get 16-7 mixed 21 straight highway

Tell him to get a set of gauges first, then get an Xcal with Eric's Xtreme street file for his daily driver. I wouldn't tow with it, use a tow file for that, but if he drives it sensible he will never see high temps. Mileage is generally best with the very hottest files if you can keep your foot out of it.

One other thing to live by with a 6.0. CLEAN fuel and CLEAN air are a must for longevity. Even more important than on a 7.3 IMO. Change your fuel filters at least every 15k if not a little sooner. Use only motorcraft filters. The stock airbox has the best filtration period and flows ample air. Only replace the stocker with the blue donaldson OEM filters. If you put a CAI on it, clean the filter every oil change or every other at the least.
