should i be looking at a 6.0L truck??
I sold my dodge and want a f250 or f350 pretty bad. It must be a crew cab and 4x4. Id like a 8ft bed but can handle a 6ft. My problem now is i have been looking at mostly 02 and 03 trucks with the 7.3L in michigan and have been finding them like i want them for around 14-120k and keep seeing 03 to 05 6.0L trucks for 16K-20k. Is it worth looking at the 6.0L trucks??? I dont hear anything but bad things about them from friends and guys at work. If i do look at them what should i watch out for???
I dont need the truck for pulling most im pulling is a 21ft liberator on a tandom trailer and 4place enclosed snowmobile trailers right now. I was really looking at the 7.3 because of reliability and gas mileage. Any thoughts?? thanks |

I love my 6.0 and would buy anither one, actually this is my 2nd one. get an oaisis report and see what type of warranty issuses the truck in question has. The early 03-04 6.0 had the most problems. the 05-06 are more reliable. if you are not towing heavy all the time you will be fine

I've owned 2 of each motors and love the 6.0's the best. There tranny's are way better and the power is awesome. I even had the 03 6.0 which are known for problems but never had one with it.

Ive owned 2 6.0's and ive never had any serious problems with either of them (knock on wood) that wasnt self induced. My 03 fouled an injector covered under warranty and I just got my 07 studded and once we got in the head gaskets were bad but I think I know why.....sct.....

I have a 6.0 and love it. If you get one and blow out the HG's just get studs put in it, and an EGR delete.

I believe that is what Ford calls the reports of all problems, fixes, recalls, dealer servicings, etc. You should probably be able to get one from the dealer you are looking at purchasing from.

I just purchased my forst PSD (first diesel) in Feb. and I love it. I have dealings with both 7.3 and 6.0 as company vehicles in a previous job. never had any problems with any of those and they had steel utility beds loaded to the teeth. the only issue we had with the 6.0 was the egr cooler failed once. warranty covered it though. My 6.0 hasn't given me an ounce of trouble yet and I just took it on a 4 hr road trip and got 20mpg. no tune just a gutted cat and 4" mbrp cat back. I love it and would definitely buy another. one more thing, all you will mostly hear IS the bad, just like the national news. nobody relays the hundreds of thousands that are running great for many many miles, just the ones that have had a bad experience... test one and form your own opinion and GOOD LUCK!!
