Unhappy SMUT IN ENGINE BAY AROUND TURBO AREA??

I HAVE LOTS OF SMUT BLOWING OUT AROUND THE TURBO AREA IN MY ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I AM NOTICING LOTS OF EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE THE CAB. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT IT TAKES LONGER FOR THE TURBO TO SPOOL UP AND GO, BUT ONCE IT DOES, I SEEM TO HAVE PLENTY OF POWER. TO BETTER DESCRIBE MY PROBLEM I WOULD SAY AT A DEAD STOP AND I WERE TO FLOOR IT, IT BLOWS TONS OF BLACK SMOKE OUT OF MY EXHAUST AND IT SEEMS THAT THERE IS NO POWER.. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WILL PICK UP AND HAUL A**. ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS OR HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM? I'M THINKING OF REPLACING MY TURBO, BUT I'M NOT SURE IF THATS THE CAUSE. IS IT POSSIBLE FOR THE TURBO TO BLOW OUT SMUT IN THE ENGINE BAY??

It would have to be replaced. Take it in under warranty unless you are over 100k miles

I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT THE SMUT IS ONLY AROUND THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE ENGINE BAY. IT IS ALL OVER THE UNDER SIDE OF THE HOOD AND COVERING THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND WIRING HARNESSES. WITH THE HOOD CLOSED AND SITTING STILL, GIVE IT ENOUGH THROTTLE AND YOU CAN SEE BLACK SMOKE COMING THROUGH THE JOINT WHERE THE HOOD AND FENDER MEET..

I mentioned this in your other thread but don't know if you saw it. Its your driver side up pipe (flex pipe) that's cracked. Its the pipe that goes from the exhaust manifold back up to the turbo. It's a PITA to replace with the cab on but possible to do. It helps to remove the inner fender well to do the job. If you're not comfortable with it take it to a diesel shop. I'm 99% sure that's your problem.

May also be leaking between the exhaust manifold and head they dont put anything between the two. But they do make a metal gasket.
