Question About Racing
Ok, so I was at the local dragstrip on Friday night, and for some reason I couldn't run better than 19.8 @ 65mph. Now I did 5 runs and my best reaction time was .851. About 6 months ago I did 4 runs at the same strip, it was my first time, and I hit in the 14s all 4 times and 14.5 @ 89mph once, my reaction time was .429 I think. Now how is it that my truck was that far off
. Havent changed a thing, other than some added weight, but I didn't think that 200lbs would throw my time off that much. I had my 120lb chain and my 80lb pintle hitch in the bed, but I didn't have anyplace to leave them. lease let me know, so I can fix it for next time.Thanks. -BG06. |

A bone stock 6.0 will run 16-17 all night long. You've got problems that need looking in to. Get it hooked up to a scanner.

Ok, well I thought that there must be something wrong, my Livewire is picking up any codes, so I'm kinda lost as to what is going on. And I boosted to about 15-20 all 5 times in 4Hi and still it was the same thing, it felt like something was holding me back, like I was dragging an anchor, halfway down the strip I was only at 40mph, so I'm really bummed right now. I'm starting to think that it has something to do with my looney tune, I'm not sure though. And also, ever since my truck was at the dealer last wednesday, my truck seems to be wandering more on the highway at 70mph and above. Just had my balljoints replaced.

How long did you boost up at staging before you took off?

There is something seriously wrong if you cant get faster than 65mph. I run like 67-69mph in the 1/8th I think. |

I have heard of these trucks going into limp mode but I have never personally felt it or seen it. And I have made alot of passes down the track.

I think I boosted to about 15 on my gauge, and held the pedal down through the finish.
The hubs arent locked. It seems to have power for the most part on the highway, on my way home I was passing most cars, but it did seem like it didn't really want to go fast, so something (I have no idea what) is holding me back. Do you think the engine is being starved of fuel or something, perhaps change the fuel filters? I really don't have a clue. -BG06. |

Pull your tune off of it and run it stock to see how it feels. Maybe try a different tune. If it still acts sluggish I'd take it to a Ford garage and have it checked over. If its been a while since you did fuel filters change them out too, but they would have to be seriously plugged over to take that much power away. I still think it's another deeper issue. HPO, ICP related possibly.
