Need help on 6.0L general
I am unfamiliar with the 6.0L diesel. I have heard several not so great problems with this motor(seals, injectors, electrical). What I am looking for is: I have the opportunity to buy an '04 F250 FX4 Lariat with only 45K miles. It has never trailered or towed anything, very meticulous maintainance kept. I would use this to tow a bumper pull travel trailer once a month and daily/weekly driving to work. It has 25 days left on the factory warranty for the motor. I have the opportunity to purchase an extended warranty as well. What are your thoughts on reliablility and cost of maintenance? What should the life expectancy be? Thanks for any help!

if u plan on leaving it stock buy it. It has a bad name for the heads and egr system. If you plan on putting a programmer on it prob the sct hands down the best all around tunner. But just in general its not a bad motor. Yes if the heads fail and its not under warranty look to spending close or around 2000 for a stud job and egr delete. but you take care of those 2 problems and you should be good for a good while. i have 135xxx miles on mine and i love it but i couldnt leave it stock and i have payed to play the game.

04 f250
It is a super crew cab(4 full doors). I can pick it upfor $18K and get a warranty for 4 years/48k for $2200 more. Leather, power rear slider, back up sensors, in-line injector pump. All factory and babied.

does it cost extra for the in-line injection pump that the 6.0 doesnt have lol..if they are trying to sell you on the OE lift pump on the rail then dont fall for it. its stock and you shouldnt have to pay more for it..if they are trying to squeeze that in
