Hey fellow friends, I just bought some rotella 5w/40 at autozone. I paid 17.99 a gallon this is the best price i have seen! Boy what a difference, the truck is 10 times quiter and starts up right away.

Why?

Been running it for 50,000 miles with no problems?

Just curious why you say bad news? It's the Rotella 5w40 Diesel Synthetic, right?

in most cases it seems to wreak havoc on 6.0 injectors..you will see alot of injector failures with that oil plus rough idle.

royal purple is junk.

I would only suggest Motorcraft oil, full synthetic or regular or my personal favorite is the Valvoline Extreme Premium Blue 5w-40

Ive been running Royal Purple for almost 30k with Aimsoil oil and fuel filters, with stanadyne diesel additive with one part Klotz BeNol 2s. Never had a problem I currently 5k over my oil change the oil is spotless even with running a small ammount of Castor oil in the fuel.

I also run rotella oil in my pick-up. It is good stuff. All my buddys also run rotella in there 7.3 and 6.0. My dad runs rotella in his peterbilt. Abrannan do you have any proof that rotella is bad for the 6.0 or is it just hear say??

Here is more info. for anyone looking at running rotella.

its not hear say..its every person that calls me and says hey..my truck has a rough idle..I ask what oil they are running..most times..its rotella, not always..

also when a truck comes in to the dealership with any injector issues, I will ask..what oill..you guessed it..Rotella..

Some people have ok luck with it..I wouldnt suggest it..HUEI injectors are too finicky.
