Diff oil change

Does anyone see a reason why I can't put 75W-140 Mobile 1 in my front diff? Ford recc. 80W-90 but I am putting on a set of diff covers and only wanted to have to buy one oil. The rear is going to take just over 6qt's and the front is going to take 4.5qts so I was just wondering if I could pick a case up. Let me know if the thicker oil is going to cause something...

I was just thinking this same thing. Im going to be doing diff covers soon and i wanted to buy a case of 75w140. I dont use 4wd that much but when i do i dont want to screw anything up by using the wrong fluid.

I went and bought oil yesterday and found out that the 75W-90 Mobile 1 was about half the price of the 75W-140 so I am going to put the "cheap" stuff in the front axle and then put the 75W-140 in the rear. It was $9 for a quart of Mobile 1 LS 75W-90 and $16 for the Mobile 1 LS 75W-140
