Question on 03 6.0 Turbo Swap

Hey all, need some opinions. I am wanting to put a 03 turbo on my 05. I have found a couple 03 turbos at some junk yards for around $400-$500. If I would get one of these, or any used one (not rebuilt) I would have it taken apart and cleaned and rebuilt if needed, before putting it on. My truck has 35,000 miles on it now. Im ready for the whistle!!

Whats the best way to go about this? Would you get one from a junk yard and rebuild/clean it, or just buy one already remanufactured? What would it cost to rebuild it? Also, are the 04s the same as the 03s?

I think you can buy a reseal kit for the turbos. The only thing about buying from a junkyard is no warranty. Check out this site and see if you can find a turbo. http://www.texascoresupply.com/ Also, the 04 turbos are not the same. They have 12 blades on the exhaust side instead of 10 like the 03 turbo. If it were me, I would just bite the bullet and get a reman. for warranty purposes. Also, get the turbo pedestal. You can find them cheap on ebay and it's a better way to install the turbo.

The only place that I know of is the dealership.

That's what I was afraid of. I'm sure they cost what 1200 from the dealer?? That's just a complete guess. Anyone know what the dealers typically charge? Sorry to thread jack or thread this is my last question.

$1200 isn't a guess. That is the list at the dealership.
