tired of email notifications from the org

i just opened my email inbox and i had over 2000 unread messages
most of them were from the org, does anyone know how to disable this?

I've pissed and moaned about this before but there's something amiss, at no fault of the administration I just think it's a glitch somewhere.

For some odd reason that I can't figure out I get e-mail notifications after just about every post in some threads especially active ones. For instance I got about 20 notices about replies in a days time from the "girls" thread. I've also gotten a ton from the "org fight club" thread and the "diesel prices in your area" with just about every reply. I'm not sure what causes it. I thought that you were only supposed to get a notice if there was a reply after a post you made, or a reply was posted after the last time you viewed the thread. It seems that it doesn't matter whether you're viewing the thread or not, you're getting a notification.

yea, after reading about 3 notifications i started deleting all of them. i went into my edit options, and unchecked every box that had to do with emails... hopefully it works

The bad thing about that is if you're trying to keep track of a thread the only way you will be able to is by manually subscribing or checking it through the new posts.

Here is my inbox within about a half hour or so last night.

You get one email per thread that you are subscribed to until the next time you sign on to the org. If you stay on the org, you will get a email for every new post. You can also unsubscribe to a thread and you will stop getting emails. Andf yall think yalls inbox is bad, I get all my emails on my blackberry. My message inbox gets full about every other day.

you need to unsubscribe from that thread... at the top of each thread, there is a button that says "thread tools". click that and a drop down menu will appear. third option down should be " subscribe or unsubscribe to thread... if you arent subcribed, it will let you subscribe, if you are subscribed, it will let you unsubscribe.....


or you can go to your user cp, it will bring up the most recent threads you are subscribed to, therer should be a drop down option where it says how many you are subscribed to that will have an option of " unsubscribe to all threads".. click that... you wont get any more emails till you post again...

you can also permanently remove any subscription notices... by going into your User CP, click edit options, there will be a drop down menu just a little bit down the page, it will have the thread subscription option of no email notification.. click that and you wont get any more emails.. there are other eoptions too if you want to use them... i think one is a daily reminder.. instead of a reminder of every post. . hope this helps.

got to unsubscribe. Your settings are set so that you instantly get an email notifaction and you're instantly subscribed.

The pic I posted was a half hour or so time span that I did not even have my browser running, and I was completely logged off of my computer username. I have my e-mail settings set to the exact same options as I do every other forum including those that use this same version of a message board but this is the only one where I get multiple notifications from the same thread even when my browser isn't running.
