I would not use the Lucas oil additive - it is too thick. also would have to have a specific reason to use any oil additives as today's oil formulations do very well by themselves.
I just switched to the Valvoline Premium Blue 5W40. It comes highly recommended. The 15W40 should be good also, but many (most?) prefer a synthetic oil. If you are going to use the 15W40, I would just stick with the Motorcraft oil - it is very good. Last edited by bismic; 12-21-2008 at 11:43 AM. |

I wasnt talking abouth the oil treatment i was talking about the pure synthetic additive,
(its thin like water) pure synthetic. I was also told (read in diesel high performance) you should never run 5wt oil in todays highreving motors ??? I dont know what to beleive ?? But thanks for the reply. |

In my opinion Lucas oil stabilizer is the best on the market. everyone swears by it, from monster truck engine builders to drag car mechanics. Its supposed to be thick, your only adding one quart of stabilizer to a couple quarts of oil. I've been using it in every oil change on over vehicle i have ever own, even put a few oz's in the quads when servicing them. it makes the oil stick to everything!!

Here are some threads on oil additives in general AND on Lucas. The 6.0L really should not have (need) any oil additives put into the oil. I understand the dosage amounts AND I will still say, I would not use it. Maintaining the proper viscosity of oil is very important to not only engine components, but also injection control strategies. Also, compatibility with detergent and corrosion inhibitors is hard to predict over time and temperature ranges.
