Is this true that some '03 models came with 7.3's and some had the 6.0?

Ryan.

6.0 was the standard diesel modle for 03 and beyond, but in 03 you could still get the 7.3 as an option.

Ryan, The 03's came out with the 7.3 and sometime in the spring they came out with the 6.0. When I bought my 03 7.3 in Nov of 02 the 6.0 was not yet available. [Thank Goodness]

I didn't know this for the longest time, and every time I saw a guy advertising a 2003 7.3 I thought he was making a mistake. I finally figured it out once I bought mine and got involved with diesel performance.

If ou wne t to build a 03 you could get either the 7.3 or the 6.0. That is up to a certain point in the model year. Then the only diesel you got was the 6.0. If you go to either www.kbb.com or www.nada.com and build a 03 for priceing of a used truck you'll see both engines listed. Keith

The 6.0 wasn't an option, it just wasn't available until later in the model year. It had some pre-production flaws that kept the 7.3 in duty until they got the 6.0 corrected. The 6.0 was originally supposed to come out with the styling change in the '02 models. But as in the first case, which really was the second case, the 6.0 wasn't ready.
