I have been looking at replacing my two-piece drive shaft for years.
I shimmed the carrier bearing down after lifting the truck, but never could get it just right.
Still had some vibrations at 47 mph and always had some excessive carrier bearing movement.
Almost bought a two-piece with a CV after the carrier, but then I saw the 5 inch aluminum shafts in the
Dodge and D-Max trucks and really liked the idea of getting rid of the carrier bearing altogether.
Until recently I could not find one with the 1410 universals at both ends and did not want to downsize to 1350.
CCI Driveline is now making them with 1410 or 1480 universals. Did some internet searching about CCI and they
seem to have a reputation for building good stuff.
So, I got on the phone and spoke with Jamie and he was very helpful. Told him about the truck and what I wanted.
Ended up buying one of their 1480 5 inch aluminum shafts. Sent him the measurements he wanted and had the shaft
in about a week (he did say they were waiting on some parts to come in).
This thing is so much smoother than my stock two-piece.
Not wanting to start a one/two-piece debate. I had decided want I wanted. But just wanted to let everyone know
what was out there and how happy I am with what I bought. Here are some pictures.
