I am new to this site, but I totally appreciate what everyone has posted. Nearly 100% of the time I can find what I am looking for on this site.
This is one that I just can not find.
I am doing ARP studs (in truck without cab lift) egr delete and oil cooler because I had a HPOP failure. I figured while I have everything off the top, I will get this done. Heads are back...not too bad of a job.
While replacing the pump I decided to look at the oring on the quick release side of the HPOP pipe. I pulled the oring out and I could see a bit of erosion on the oring.
I can not find a photo or a look up that shows this oring and it came out in two pieces. Is this available or do I need to by the pipe to get these.
To be clear with everyone I am looking for the oring that goes inside the pipe on the 3C3Z-9T288-AA.
Unfortunately Ford won't sell you the oring and back up ring. I have changed the oring in them a few times simply by matching one up. The nylon ring is reusable.
Or you can buy the tube. Just called my ford buddy and they don't separate the oring
Sorry, the J-tube is the high pressure oil pump discharge tube. I replace them with every 03-04 HPOP for piece of mind. Do not ever reassemble the pump and j-tube without at least replacing the O-rings. The J-tube STC is not prone to blowing out but it stands to reason wear on the o-ring can cause some oil loss.
Also if you have an 03 or early 04 there is an updated pump cover with a larger recess cast into it for better J-tube clearance. On 03s the J-tube can rub the HPOP cover and cause several problems regarding tube alignment and rubbing.
The updated cover comes with a new IPR installed but it is quite costly. 3C3Z-9G805-AA is the part number
The oring backer (plastic piece) looks like crap on mine.
Hey guys that sell parts make an oring kit with the backer ring in it and make a few bucks. These are getting 10+ years old and are going to start failing. Sell if for $48 + shipping and guys like me would rather send you the cash then reward Ford for bad behavior.
By trade I have been an engine guy for years. For fun I buy sick 6.0 and nurse them back to health...I enjoy working on them. In my professional life I manage products for a manufacture and I have set up pricing on parts. The key is to make sure they are in line with the market and just painful enough.
This one pushed me over the edge. This is crappy of Ford and International to offer this only as a pipe.
I can tell you in my job I try to make sure crap like this does not happen on my products!
I think I am going to pull the trigger on buying one, but first I am going to say it: This is the one purchase in the 6.0 experience that disgusts me.
