04 F-350 6.0L....... Starter crapped out the other day. Turns out starter bolts had come loose. Lower bolt was missing and middle one had loosened up to the point that the starter twisted out of place and broke middle mounting tab. Replaced the starter but like I said the lower bolt was missing. It appears as though the lower bolt may have been a different size and maybe bolted in from the bell housing side. There are no threads on the bell housing to bolt the lower tab of the started to. :dunno: Any help?????
The top hidden bolt and the top open bolt go in from the starter to the bell-housing. The lower bolt goes in from the bell to the starter. Three 13mm bolts.
Thanks, kinda figured that when I started putting it back in. So the bottom bolt (missing) is the same size and thread as the top two and just goes in from the bell housing side?
Nah, somethings missing! No threads on the starters lower mounting tab and no threads on the bell housing. Bell housing side seems to be larger diameter like maybe somethings missing.
Yep, this happened to me over the summer....and my luck it was a last minute torrential down pour outside and I was soaked when I was done putting them back in.
