Just to be clear, Sarg was talking about the internal parts of the turbo, not the external. I don't mean to offend if you knew that, but your post count would indicate you might not be savvy to what some of us take for granted.
Its an 06 f-350 extended cab the only things done to it is straight piped and an afe intake. There isn't any codes. It runs great once you get past the lag
FICM tuning (as mentioned) and custom tunes will help. I think it's more due to the single turbo though, so driving style will also play a part.
Even with a FICM tune and custom tune, mine still has a bunch of lag if I just punch it from a stop. But, if I ease into it, it takes off pretty good for a big fat crew cab 4x4.
FICM tuning, a single plane compressor wheel or SCT tuning would help. Considering the laundry list of things to consider check out the above posts and do your maintenance checks before moving on to performance gains.
