2005 Transmission drain/filter/refill question

2005 F250 automatic -> drained, cleaned the pan, change the filter (in the pan)
.....how much fluid do I need to refill it? 7-8 quarts? Maybe?

Thanks in advanced.

Did you change the inline filter too?? That's the one that really matters

When I last did mine I only had to put 12 qts back in. Also make sure you use Mercon SP

Yup, changed the inline filter too. Got the Mercon SP fluid too.....purchased all of it from the Ford dealer.
I've put in 7 quarts so far.....and I can see the fluid on the dipstick. (I let in run for a while in Nuetral to circulate).....should I add more? Dont want to mess anything up.

You may be close, I'm not exatly sure how much the pan itself holds. I also let mine run for a couple seconds with the inline filter off to pump some extra fluid out. As long as you are checking on level ground with the engine running and are above the add line I would say you are good.
