what is this?

there is like a little pump i think on the passenger side of my truck that always comes on when i first start my truck it has an orange electrical connection on it Help

i believe it is the supplementary vacuum pump that you are hearing but i not 100% sure

take a photo, sounds like it could be the vacuum pump.

If it runs constantly, you probably have a leak somewhere.

Yeah, its the vacuum pump. I'm not the best at explaining this, but if you'll notice on a gasser motor all the vacuum lines used to run brakes, etc. are run to the intake where they get that vacuum. On a diesel it doesn't work that way which results in needing a supplemental pump to operate various things.
