cant get over 31lbs of boost

when i walk on it as soon as my boost hits 31 psi it feels like the truck backs down, is that a factory set limiter? for example when i shift into third it hits 31psi at around 2700 rpm egts around 950 and stops smoking,is it set to back off fuel to keep from overboosting? if so how do i get around it?

Its defueling i think.. why in the hell do you want more boost. ur not running a larger turbo. so now all your doing is heating air at that point.

wasnt sure how much the stock turbo was good for, thought i might be able to get a bit more out of it since my egt isnt extremely high.

Its not the turbo that makes the egt's high. its the amount of fuel. more fuel = higher egt's. if you dont have enough air to acomidate the fuel. all it does is make it hotter. the factory turbo is done at 30ish psi. after that its just heating the air going into the motor.

Mine only puts out 27psi and that's plenty for me. I rarely even ask that much of her.

Hmm. Maybe I'm going out on a limb here, but I regularly get 36PSI out of mine. When cruising and the converter locks in, I lean into it and hit 36 and it pulls like a son of a gun. Only at wide open throttle does the boost back down to about 29.

Ford claims 27 lbs of boost max and as low as 24 is still within paramaters/acceptable, when my 06 dually was new it would pull 32 on a good day, but at about 20,000 miles all I could get was 26 to 27 lbs...also check fuel pressure.
