smell of coolent

hey everyone. every now and then on my 05 PSD 6.0 I get the smell of coolent when driving my truck it doesnt spew out or any thing and the level is always the same been watching it for about a month now. I noticed it happens more when I am part throttle cruising and not in OD like on the interstate but more like the 45MPH back roads. (just slow enough for it to not lock up)


I am thinking my egr cooler is going bad would I be right in this. If not what would your be the next place to look.

A coolant pressure test would be a good start to narrow it down. If the EGR cooler has failed, you would be blowing white smoke out the tailpipe, most noticeably under load.
