dad has 04 6.0L excursion have questions

ok my dad tows a pretty heavy trailer 10,000-11,000 easily and ussually has 4-6 passengers as well...

he has a quadzilla programmer that helped alot with MPG and power...

i have 2 main questions...

i was interested in getting him a full intake (obviously assuming it will add what i think it should), i mainly want it to improve mpg since we travel pretty far when towing, instead of just more power... any suggestions??

also i want to get him airbags for the rear since it brings the rear down quite abit when its heavy and wanted to help with that situation and also improve safety... also would like suggestions...

6.0L stock intake is amazing, Good up to 500H.P. It would be almost a waste of money. The bags are a GREAT idea for him. I would buy him a turbo back exhaust system. The engine would love that. Especially pulling that much daily

I dont think an Intake will help you out much
what kind of MPG are you getting now?

check out a custom tuned SCT, its much better for the transmission. Since your running a tuner you really need to have a set of gauges, at least a pyro. You might look into a tb exhaust also, it will lower your EGT's

They are good. I am agreeing with you though. There is no need for the Intake at this time. His father uses the truck to pull heavy stuff daily. Exhaust and chunk the Quadzilla. But that was not his question.

S&B are good to. In my opinion. AFE for the money is the choice.

any programmer will be choking the truck without opening up the exhaust, especially with the towing. that would be the first thing i would do, and then i would definitely sell the quadzilla and buy an SCT X3 from any vendor website and get a hold of innovative tuning and let them make you some custom tunes. custom tuning is the best, it synchronizes you engine and transmission in a way that canned tuning cannot. good luck

didnt realize the intake wouldnt even help... always thought intake on diesels are always helpful... but i appreciate ur info...

so yea... do you guys suggest a site on bags? and rough idea what install or if it could be done by him since he has a good idea what hes doing...

and is the turbo back exhaust a brand? or do u mean headers back??

may have to even help get him the new programmer is you all say its that much better
