Buy a 6.0 or wait for the 6.4s?

Hi Fellas!

I'm looking to buy an F-350 to carry a slide-in truck camper. The prices on the new Fords up here in Canada are ridiculous and the 6.4 L Powerstoke apparently is lousy on fuel economy. I can get a pretty good deal on a 2005 F-350 (plain jane) but it has the 6.0 L engine (126,000 km) and I'm worried about the reliability of this engine.
Can anyone give me an idea, based on their experiences, about these engines? Thanks to all for your assistance.

Bought my SD used with 70,000kms on it. Currently I'm at 102,000 and I've loved every minute of it!

Personally, I'd stay 99-early 03. Bet you can't tell I'm a 7.3 fan huh.

well from what ive heard the 05-07 6.0s are pretty solid and have alot of the bugs worked out but ya id do the 7.3 route but im a fan too

I keep hearing the newer ones are better too, but I just hauled a dead 05 to the dealer 2 days ago behind my 99. Proof enough for me!!

The 6.0 diesel had the lowest amount of warranty claims for the 2006 model year of any Ford engine, including the gas engines. That alone says there was a lot of improvement in the later model years. The 7.3 was not trouble free either. Actually, I know a lot more people that have been left on side of the road with 7.3s than 6.0s. I will concede that it's usually just a sensor, though.

Don't be scared of the 6.0s. I know I was really worried when I got mine, and I haven't had any issues at all other than a dirty turbo in 60k miles.

You guy's with the 7.3's have never had a 6.0 so how would you know how they run or how many problems they have. I have never a had a problem with mine. The 7.3's are going to die soon because you guy's are going to get so many miles on them they will all need rebuild.

I saw a 08 F250 CC 4X4 on the local ford lot for $29,000 on the windshield. I owe more than that on my 06..
