Garrett Turbo for 6.0 ??

I was reading one of the Diesel Magazines a month or so back and one of the guys had a 6.0 with a 100hp Garrett Turbo Upgrade on it, but Garrett told me that they do not make upgrade turbos for the 6.0 .... Does anyone know of a Model of Garrett that will upgrade the 6.0's ????

you can upgrade the components of the factory turbo to make it a VGT-SS (think Elite does them) or whatever they call it, I think. But for anyone to ever say a turbo is a 100hp upgrade sounds like total BS to me. A turbo alone just increased the airflow, but you need to get the fuel as well to get the additional hp from the way I understand it.

It was a TD Magazine ... so you know how that is ...... I work for Honeywell, so I would be interested in something that I could buy internally, not an aftermarket .... ....

no problem, until u actually get upgraded injectors not sure one really would need to upgrade a turbo on the 6.0, maybe someone else could chime in. But you want to upgrade a turbo when u need to increase the airflow needed by extra fuel provided by upgraded injectors, otherwise you probably don't get much for the cost of the upgrade, but then again I could be wrong

I know the article you're talking about, I saw the truck in person too at TS back in April. IIRC its a modified stock charger. The truck didn't impress me much for all it did on the dyno and the track for how much the guy had in to it. I talked to the owner and got the impression that he didn't know exactly what was in his truck. He just took it to a shop and had it upgraded...

It could never hurt to increase the airflow to these beasts. I know what kind of numbers I laid down with just my turbo and tuner, not to mention lifted heads But yes when you do add more fuel, it makes sense that you WILL need more air, I am the perfect example of that. I am not out of air for my injectors. As you can tell by my dyno sheets, you can actually see my turbo choking out on the top end. But I am happy, happy with what I got for the time being.

What he said. You want to increase your turbo size to clean up additional fuel. If you are running stock injectors no need for a bigger turbo.

The injectors are a given, what I REALLY wanted to know is if there is an upgrade turbo made by garrett for the 6.0 PSD ?

nope, just stock ones that are upgraded internally
