Shell Rotella T Synthetic 5w40 who runs it
I just swapped to the rotella syn 5w40 this last go around at 72k. I've got about 1000 miles on it and at about 3k I'll send a sample off. Does anybody use this? I'ts available at wally world for 20 bucks a gallon. Reading oil post it seems the choices run like beer from Natural Light to Sam Adams Utopia. Twenty bucks a gallon is steep to me but if the analysis looks good I can suffer through.
Any opinions/results on the Rotella syn? |

Rotella is good for me. The last time around I used the Rotella Syn just because it was on sale and cheaper than regular.

I changed my oil today and used Rotella T Synthetic 5w40 in prep for the cooler months. I've got 47.5k on the odometer and my last oil change was starting look dirtier than past changes so I thought it might be time to let her swig some good stuff. It's around $40 more per oil change which if you change at the factory intervals of 7500miles works out to about half a penny per mile extra.
When I was running biodiesel my oil would come out only slightly dingier than it went in. Now that I'm on petro it's starting to look like diesel oil but still nothing like my diesel Mercedes. Used oil out of that Mercedes looked like black ink and would stain your hands for a week after an oil change. Of course it left a black cloud a battleship would be proud of everytime I stepped on the go pedal. I sold it with 275k and it was still running strong. Ah but I digress. |

I have 44K on my 05. I run the Rotella 15-40 in the summer
here in the peoples republic & change over to RTS 5-40 for my winter trip to Denver. The 5-40 gives me perfect starts at zero or so as that is as cold as I have been. I change both out at 5K and that works out to be every six months as per the owners man. |

I run Rotella 5w40 - full syn. Have been doing so for the last year. I picked up an extra 1mpg with the switchover. No problems here.

Good info. I am rooling up on an oil change in my 03 F250. I am right at 124k on the 6.0L. I had planned to run Rotella 5w40 Full Synthetic. Looks Like I made the right choice.
