Modding the truck

Hello everybody. I am going to be putting studs in my truck real soon. So I though what better time to delete the EGR. Well I got a hold of an EGR cooler and want to weld it up and install it on my truck. I plan on welding it just like this picture
My question is if I weld it up like in the picture and there is an internal coolant leak in the EGR cooler will it still operate properly? Will this solve any future EGR complications? Also the EGR cooler I got to modify from a buddy looks exactly like the one in the picture. Is the EGR on my 04 6.0 the same egr cooler pipe? Or is it a different style? What years did they use this style pipe on? Thanks all

If you aren't gonna re route the coolant line you run the risk of breaking the cooler inside the unit.

Check out the link I posted above (if you haven't already) The picture you are showing only blocks off the exhaust.( I think).the coolant can still flow through the cooler.

Would the coolant run in the cooler and back out even if there were a leak as long as the ends a welded up air tight? Sorry for so many questions I am new to all this.

That tube and hose is basically making a bypass back to the oil cooler.
Totally delete the EGR cooler. Block off hot exhaust gas at up pipe with freeze plug. Weld that plug in place!
