Questions about your 6.0's

hey guys, Im considering buying a 05 or 06 6.0L Iv been a cummins guy all my life but I really like the way those year of Ford superduty's look. The only thing holding me back is the horror stories iv heard about these engines. But i figure the only way to find out the real story is to ask the guys that drive them....so how are they? and what problems have you had? thanks for any advice

I dont have a 6.0 but I know especially the later 6.0s that you are looking at are great trucks and by then most of the kinks should have been worked out. Im sure some of the 6.0 guys will chime in but they are great trucks!

drive one first...the power comes on completely different than what you're used to...it's not bad, just different than an I6..

the 6.0's bad reputation is almost as exaggerated as performance claims made by Cummins guys...find a truck you're interested in and get an OASIS run..it's a dealer record of service on the vehicle...you'll need the VIN to get this info..

Powerstrokehelp.com is pretty good, but in one video he states to use Mercon V tranny fluid. This is WRONG. Use only Mercon SP. I emailed him and he replied that it was a mistake that they would correct.

A 6.0 is a good motor. It's even better when it has a warranty. Just look in my sig and that quote should answer a lot.

Egr valve clogs, ICP replaced, Cracked up pipe, Would not trade it for the world.

Every motor has weak points, As 2005 said, The best 6.0l is one with warranty.

cant really help u other than i blive they are good engine and lie 05250 said it owner inflicted but my uncle ahs one and the turbo did fry but it was the vgt fault other than that nothin bad
