Intermittant, loss of power and lots of black smoke

2007 6.0 Intermittantly, loses power, little to no throttle response and lots of black smoke. Will clear up when you shut down and restart most of the time. Any ideas, ? IPR, ICP, CMP

egr valve hanging open at times, get codes pulled , i feel like thats your problem

I'll look into that, EGR vavle forgot they started using them on diesels

Same thing on my '03 - unplugged the EGR - never happened since. (tried to remove it to clean it - gave up after 30 minutes of prying - easier to unplug.)
