AC

I have an 03 6.0 and the ac works great when I am in the throttle or cruising the interstate, but if I am idling, it seems like there is no ac?????

My 2004 does exactly the same thing and the freon has been checked by Ford. I suspect that what's been happening - - when running highway, there is enough air flow in the engine compartment to keep things "cool". But when you stop and the heat of that diesel stays under that hood, it gets robs the a/c of capacity. I was considering the purchase of some additional heat shields to place around the fan, evaporator, etc.

It sounds like your fan clutch is getting flaky. Is the truck running hotter than normal when you're sitting still?

What about the heat? I noticed today when I tried to turn my defrost on with a lil heat it would not warm up. I set it all the way to 90 degrees and it was barely blowing warm. The AC works great but I have never had a problem with the heat before.

Have you changed the coolant recently? You could have an air pocket in the system. You could also have a malfunctioning heater valve. It blocks the flow of water when heat is not called for. Also, the damper door, damper vacuum motor, electronic controller, etc. could be malfunctioning. There's a lot of stuff to check. I wish I could be more help, but it's hard without being there. You just have to start eliminating problems until you find it.

It's fine with me. Just keep in mind I'm not a super duty A/C expert. I'm a commercial refrigeration tech that just happens to have worked on a LOT of cars and trucks over the years. I can help with troubleshooting, but you're gonna need a service manual to sort out the wiring and vacuum routing.
