Fuel filter questions

1) where is the cheapest to get the filters?

2) Do they have to come from Ford or are there other brands that are good?

3) Could a dirty filter cause hotter running conditions on the truck? I've noticed my ECT temps up a few degrees from normal.

thanks!

When I think about it ahead of time, ebay has always been the cheapest. I usually go in with a friend and buy more than 1 so we can share the shipping.

Advance has the best price of the local places that I've seen for fuel filters. Walmart is cheapest on the oil filter, though.

I get mine from fleetfilter.com. They sell Wix (napa) products so you know they are good, and way cheaper than going to Napa, Ford, or most of the other places I have looked. I have purchased filters (for the ATVs) from Ebay, but they were always some brand that I haven't heard of. I don't do that anymore. Good luck.

Look and see if you have an International dealer in your area. Part # 1847170C93 is the kit that includes both filters. $34.41 last time I picked one up

Wix/Napa filters are not "good" for the Ford 6.0. Definitely not the oil filters and definitely not the fuel filters.

For the fuel filters, it's easy to see why. Take a look at the pic below of the Wix 6.0 fuel filters, you see something missing? Yep, the white filter covering that filters out water.

Do NOT buy Wix/Napa filters for your 6.0!

Everybody get so hung up on type of oil, type of fuel, CAI, lift kits, tires, etc. and then get cheap on what could be considered the most important piece to the puzzle.

I don't get it, buy Motorcraft for the 6.0 and nothing else.
If you want to add a bypass system that's fine, but if your using the stock system then don't be cheap and risk your $$$$$$ engine. JMHO

What about the AFE D2 filters? They are 59.00 bucks for both fuel filters at Innovative. A lil more expensive but you know AFE does not produce junk. They specialize in filters!

Just to be clear, I didn't mean to buy the cheap filters off ebay. I only buy the OEM Motorcraft period. They are a little cheaper than Advance if you buy 2 sets. Advance runs about 50 bucks with tax. These are $41 each with shipping. eBay Motors: Ford Powerstroke 6.0 Diesel Fuel Filter 2x OE F350 F450 (item 270271201525 end time Sep-10-08 18:19:10 PDT)

If you watch the auctions, you can even get them for a little less. I picked up a set for $33 once, but you generally have to bid to get them that cheap. I've never seen a buy it now much cheaper than 40-45 shipped.
