2006 250

I am new around here, but lurking for a while. I have the oppurtunity to pick up a 2006 250 Xcab FX4 for 18K. I see that most people feel the 6.0 has had a lot of issues with it. I have aways had 150 gassers so i am fairly new to the diesel game. This truck has 53k miles on it. I know it is out of bumper to bumper, but does it still have a an engine warranty? Would any recommend not picking this truck up? I have seen it in and out and looks remarkable. The carfax comes back as a one owner. I am going to ford to get the service history but wanted to get some of your thoughts. I'll hang up and listen!

You should still have whats left of the 5yr/100k mile engine warranty. Depending on the oasis I would go for it

Welcome to the .org. $18k sounds like a great price, is it a 4x4 even? You have a 100k mile/5 year engine warranty from ford on the powerstroke. Check the service records from Ford (called an Oasis report). Make sure you ask questions from someone who knows what's actually been done to the truck as far as any warranty work, ask a tech, not the salesman. The 6.0L is a good engine when properly taken care of. It likes clean oil and clean air. Stick to the factory recommended maintenance intervals and you should do fine.

So Im guessing the 5/100K warranty will cover most of the problems everyone has listed here on the site ie.. injectors, turbos, egr?? I'll get the oasis today and post the results here before i actually do buy it. yes it is a 4 wheel drive. Thanks guys

agreed, if the oasis is good, get it. 5/100 for engine and 5/60 for the powertrain (tranny, driveshafts, front and rearends)

Good deal for that truck!

Most 06s only have a 3/36 on the truck and powertrain and 5/100 on the engine. There were a very few 06s that had 5/60 when Ford changed over their warranty at the end of the model year. I forget the cut off date. Maybe one of the techs will chime in with that info.

If memory serves me, the cutoff was sometime in late July 06 build dates. Don't hold me to that, though. My memory sometimes ain't the best. LOL
