Need some urgent help

Hey guys, my friend and i were doing a full tranny service and he had to leave. He removed the external filter, and im trying to put it back on.

my question is...

Which side does the spring / magnet go on? It looks like it goes in the housing spring down, the filter on top and the housing screws on? is this correct? Thanks!
