ford transmission
i have a 06 ford f250 on 38s with a bullydog power pup, the trannie has been slipping some. what would be a good aftermarket trannie to put on it, or what would be some good things to upgrade the inside of the stock trannie. what do yall think i should do?

Does it slip when returned to stock? Also did you regear when you went to 38 inch tires? The reason I ask is bullydog doesnt have the best trans tuning to begin with. And the 38s throw it off even more

no, it doesnt slip on stock, and i dont have regearing what would be a good gearing to change to? with the tuner on it slips really bad in 2nd gear. what would be a good tuner that would be easier on my trannie?

I would bump up to 4.30 gears, As far as the tuner goes Look into an SCT X3 with custom tunes from one of vendors here they can actually tune the trans so it shifts correctly

I second the SCT, if not for the tranny tuning alone, but more power is always nice too. Definitely re-gear with 38's!

I have a friend that had the same issue with his BD tuner, but it trashed his tranny ('05 PSD). He is planning on getting a SCT
I second the SCT, the best programmer you can buy for the 6.0 IMHO. There is an article in Diesel Power mag about a guy with an SCT, and how shocked they were that the tranny held up to the power levels they were getting on the dino, with 0 slippage, due to the tranny tuning. The tunes came from Eric at ID . Pg 131 of the July '08

Try the SCT with custom tunes first before dropping $$$$ on the tranny. How many miles has the bully dog been on there?
If you go back to stock and it shifts good still you may not have messed it up too bad, yet. |

Most Tuners do know how to control the trans...call Cale at BTS and get his tunes.

I have an 04 with the BD power pup. Very happy with the power (dyno 423hp + 800 ftlb) but the tranny tuning sucks! Saving up some stash cash so I can get a SCT.

i think i have had it on the tuner for about 18,000 miles, not for shure. but with the tuner it shift really hard and slips sometimes, but on stock it runs good.
