Turning over w/o injector

For the tech guys, I'm a DIYer whos learning diesel at the expense of my engine and was turning over the engine just a bit to get the valves to cycle to check em, and didn't think injector being out would matter, and my 6.0 spit at me. Was pretty forceful though. Is that normal?

Maybe she's mad at me for bending a rod on her.

Did it spit diesel or coolant? If it was diesel or some oil that ran in the open hole that's normal. If it was coolant then you may need an injector sleeve or maybe your head gasket had a bad spot in it when you put it in.
