Oil: 5w40 vs 15w40?

Right now I have Rotella T synthetic 5w40 and I just saw that advance has Valvoline Premium Blue syntheic 15w40 on sale for $8.88 per gallon, so I was considering using that for my oil change coming up.

What are everyone's thoughts on viscosity? I'm in western ny, where the winters can get cold.

You will be fine either way with a synthetic. The cold flow properties are excellent.

I don't think the $8/gal premium blue is synthetic, is it? That would be a heck of a deal...

+1 FUMOTO VALVES ARE DA BOMB!!!! Dont flow as fast as pulling the plug, but its a nice straight stream, bet you can fill a jug straight out of valve and not even have to dirty a pan!!! Makes oil change somewhat enjoyable now.
