got beat by duramax help

my buddy called me out to race i have a stock truck with a superchip and he has a stock truck dont know bout chips but he let me leave and i can beat him till we go to 3rd gear and he walks way from me. what do i need to do to beat him cant have him talking.

I would start by posting everything u can about your truck, is it a 6.0 or 7.3? etc, etc. Then you will get some people to chime in and offer advice. I would start myself with a 4" turbo back exhaust, delete the muff and kitty. Depending on the engine, u need to go to either an SCT tuner of Tony Wildman chip. Possibly new intake, although u may be ok there. I am sure others will add. You also need to fess up how much you can/will throw down on what you are wanting.

EDIT: just saw u were on '05 so then a 6.0. Get the SCT X2, X3, or Livewire and some custom tunes by either Innovative Diesel, DJ's, or even the freely available ones on the Spartan site. Plus the stuff above.

Ditto on the above. Most 6.0 guys LOVE the sct tuning. Those duracraps are pretty fast stock anyway. Youll love the way a 4" turbo back sounds!!!

is the sct xcal 1 a good tuner or do i need the sct xcal 2 on my 6.0

Like the others said, 4" TB exhaust, and an SCT. I don't know anything about the SCT 1, so they may not be available anymore. I have the SCTXcal2, and the exhaust and this truck rocks now!

It is very important if you get a SCT to have a set of gauges with pyro as a minimum. I have pyro, tranny temp (Ford gauges are more like idiot lights than good temp gauge) and boost (its more acurate than the stock on). I think that the Livewire has those capabilities built into it???

yea even if u have a superchip u need to open up your truck w/ cuttin it straight or getting a full system such as MBRP, Magnaflow, etc.

u probably need to dump the superchips if u want to beat him though and like others said get the SCT X3(the X3 is just the new model that came out)... u can order it WITH custom tunes if u email innovative diesel or DJ's performance they will set u up with a hot tune. That will start u off right...

if he has a newer d-max like an 06+ it is an LBZ or LMM and they are very quick stock... and ridiculous w/ a tuner like PPE or EFI Live
