Looking to buy an Excursion
Hi, all I am new here, and to big diesels.
I am looking to buy an EXcursion. I found a few in my price range at local places. The one I like the best is a 2003 with the 6.0. I am going to make and run bio in it. I also have a '83 300d to help burn the bio. What I don't know is which engine is better for running BIO Diesel, the 6 or the 7.3. I bought the 83 merecedes because of the robustness of the engine. I have heard conficting opinions of the 6.0. I will not do any modifications to either vehicle. I can live the doggy '83 benz, and actually like it, the trucks can't be any slower! I want the most reliable engine that will not cost me to fix later, I always keep up on routine maintenance stuff. I will be running BIO D in it. I will do very little towing with it, just a small camper. This will replace my 2001 5.4 expedition, and my wife will drive it in the winter. Vehicles currently on the short list. 2003 EXcursion Limited 6.0l 140,000 miles 2000 EXcursion XLT 7.3L 93,000 miles 1999 Surburban k2500 6.5L 70,000 miles I'm still looking for other deals, but any helpful points are appreciated! Thanks in advance for your input. Bob |

Anyone have informatoin on running biodiesel on either the 6.0 or 7.3. Is one better than the other?
Did I hear that the 6.0 has a higher PSI at injectors? |

There are several members that run bio and vegi in both engines with little to no problems.
Though the 7.3 seems to be more forgiving of lower quality fuel. |
